**Observed**: Loopback address 128.173.0.1/32, missing default route via AS1, AS1’s loopback (4.2.2.1/32) advertised, successful ping to AS1 after route correction.
**Decided**: Added default route via AS1, advertised loopback to neighbors, corrected AS1’s route prefix, verified connectivity.
**Why**: Ensure all non-local traffic routes via AS1, enable bidirectional communication with peers, fix routing errors, confirm functionality.

### **1. Actions Taken**
1. **Loopback Address Identification**:
   - Ran `ip addr show lo` to identify the stable node address `128.173.0.1/32` on the loopback interface.
   - Advertised this address to both neighbors (User and AS1) via `send_message` commands, specifying next hops (`10.0.6.1` for User and `10.0.1.2` for AS1).

2. **Default Route Configuration**:
   - Verified and added a default route via AS1’s peer IP (`10.0.1.2`) using `ip route add default via 10.0.1.2`. This ensures upstream internet connectivity.

3. **Route for AS1’s Loopback**:
   - After AS1 advertised its loopback (`4.2.2.1/32`), added an explicit route with `ip route add 4.2.2.1/32 via 10.0.1.2 dev Uni-eth1` to ensure direct reachability.
   - Corrected an earlier typo (`456789/32` → `4.2.2.1/32`) after a routing error.

4. **Validation Tests**:
   - Ran `ip route show` to confirm all routes (default, AS1’s loopback, and direct links) were correctly installed.
   - Tested reachability to AS1’s loopback with `ping -c 3 -I 128.173.0.1 4.2.2.1`, which succeeded with 0% packet loss.

### **2. Justifications**
- **Loopback Advertisement**: Essential for end-to-end routing stability, as infrastructure IPs (e.g., `10.0.1.1/30`) are link-local and cannot be routed remotely.
- **Default Route**: Establishes a path for all non-local traffic to exit via AS1, the upstream ISP.
- **AS1’s Explicit Route**: Ensures traffic to AS1’s loopback address uses the optimal next hop (`10.0.1.2`), avoiding potential conflicts with the default route.
- **Error Correction**: Fixed the invalid prefix to prevent routing failures and ensure AS1’s address was reachable.
- **Validation Tests**: Confirmed route consistency and functional connectivity before declaring success.

### **3. Discoveries About the Network**
- **Topology**:
  - Uni is directly connected to User (`10.0.6.2/30`) and AS1 (`10.0.1.1/30`).
  - AS1’s stable address (`4.2.2.1/32`) is reachable via the default route but requires an explicit route for deterministic forwarding.
- **Existing Routes**:
  - A pre-existing route to `128.173.10.1` via `10.0.6.1` suggests an internal network (e.g., User’s subnet) managed by the User node.
- **Routing Behavior**:
  - The default route works for internet traffic, while explicit routes ensure precise handling of peer loopback addresses.

---

### **4. Coordination with Other Agents**
- **Advertising Loopback**: Sent messages to User and AS1 to propagate `128.173.0.1/32`, enabling bidirectional communication.
- **Handling AS1’s Advertisement**: Processed AS1’s message to add their loopback route, demonstrating peer-to-peer route exchange.
- **Error Resolution**: Corrected the invalid prefix after receiving no feedback from AS1, relying solely on local validation.

---

**Conclusion**: The network is operational with proper routing and reachability. All critical paths (default route, peer loopbacks, and internal networks) function as intended.
